STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Ministry of Women and Child Development, Food and Nutrition Board, Government of India, Jammu unit organised a state level workshop on ‘Importance of Nutrition for Better Health’ at the Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk here on Friday. On the occasion, Arun Bangotra, Principal Government Polytechnic Jammu was the Chief Guest while Rimpi Ohri, PO ICDS Udhampur was the Guest of Honour. Ravinder Kumar, Demonstrator Officer, Jammu unit of Food and Nutrition Board, in his address, informed about the objective of holding ‘Poshan Maah’ in September 2019. He also gave detailed presentation on Poshan Abhiyan campaign launched by the Prime Minister. Speaking on the occasion, Arun Bangotra informed that Poshan Abhiyan is a multi-ministerial convergence mission with a vision to ensure attainment of ‘Malnutrition-free India’ by 2022. He further impressed upon all to fulfill the aim for ensuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for child and women. Rimpi Ohri also highlighted objective of Poshan Abhiyan to reduce stunting with the highest malnutrition burden by improving utilisation of key Anganwadi services besides improving service delivery. Dr Hema Aggarwal, retired Principal highlighted importance of nutrition and healthcare for pregnant women and nursing mothers. Dr Dinesh Kumar, Prof and Head Department of Community Medicines GMC and Dr Bhavana Shalini were also present on the occasion.
