Dear Editor, This refers to news item published in the newspaper March 17, 2020 in which it has been mentioned that BRO has issued orders to shopkeepers to remove encroachments from this road and in case they do not comply these directions then the BRO will do it on its own as there is traffic jam 2-3 times a day as a result of which general public movement on this road which passes through the city becomes not only difficult but quite impossible as DC Office, Distt. Court complex and other higher offices are on this road side but for kind information of 35 BRTF it is submitted that main reason of traffic jam on this road is TCP Chowk Shops Amar Vaishnoo Punjabi Dhaba including other 5-6 shops on that side and opposite building material establishment and other shops upto Housing Colony Entrance and till these shops/business establishments are not removed and 4 laning of road extended up to Jakhani there will be no relief in traffic jam and movement of people smoothly. Further, it is submitted that as appeared in State Times, May 7, 2016 the then DC Udhampur Shahid Iqbal Chowdry accompanied by ADC A.S Rana, Commander 35 BRTF Vishal Sharma and Senior officers of various Deptt. started the process of removal of encroachments from TCP Chowk to Birma Bridge was finalised which was to be followed by drains, footpaths and blacktopping from Jakhani to Rhembal, 4 laning of road from TCP chowk to Broadway Plaza through BRO but unfortunately this said DC who belong to J&K most professional and committed officer who initiated other works also for providing civic amenities in the city as detailed in my writeup published in state times January 8, 2018 was unfortunately transferred pre-maturely or got done so by vested interests and his successors who were duty bound to push forward these works did nothing although I filed complaint No. 64224, 74735, 75588, 77396, 999000835958, 999000997189 to CM/Govt. Grievance Cell and numerous RTIs in the matter but almost all disposed by DC Udhamupur that at present no proposal conceived in this regard which I contested through my complaint No. 999001169921 that then DC has an idea, a plan etc in the matter but of no use. However, now only time will show as to whether this 4 laning of road referred to above will see light of the day or not. Bansi Lal Balwal, Udhampur.
