STATE TIMES NEWS Jammu: There is an old adage that ‘Love is blind’ and this is what a woman proved for her husband, who was arrested in a rape case as she allegedly in connivance with some others helped him to escape from the custody on Sunday morning from Police Post Talab Tillo. Pankaj Gupta, 35, arrested couple of days back after a complaint was lodged against him by the girl alleging that she was ditched by him and promised to get married, he “outraged her modesty” The accused, as per police sources, was running a mobile repair shop where the complainant met him. “The complainant said that she was not aware that he was married and he (accused) never disclosed it to her throughout the period they were in relationship,” police sources said. However, soon after the girl came to know about the truth, she forced him for marriage but he did not agree to that following which she lodged a complaint against him at Police Post Talab Tillo. Three days back, accused was taken into custody following a rape case was registered against him, sources said, adding, “On Sunday, the accused when taken to attend nature’s call, dodged the police, pushed the cop and jumped out of the police post.” Police sources said that his wife, along with others, reportedly connived in the crime by helping him to escape from the police post. “Reportedly his wife and some others, helped the accused to flee on a two wheeler,” sources said. ………It was like a filmy scene. Meanwhile, police teams launched a manhunt and finally rearrested him last night with the help of his mobile locations, from Pathankot as he was about to leave the town in a train. “The involvement of his wife and others is under investigation but fresh case has been registered and investigations taken up,” police sources added.
