JAMMU: “Barbad Gulistañ Karne Ko Bas Ek hi Ullu Kaafi tha.. Har Shakh Pe Ullu Baitha Hai Anjam-e-Gulistañ Kya Hoga”, the couplet fits well with Jammu politics, which is fast becoming murkier than the once-holy waters of Suryaputri Tawi. This has brazenly unfolded itself in the ongoing elections to the District Development Councils with one hand not knowing what another is upto. In these elections, the poll managers are working for cross purposes. Instead of supplementing the efforts of comrades they are working overtime to ensure that these fail. How can the observations like ‘Don’t vote for us next time’ bolster the campaign of national level star campaigners when the star beneficiaries of the Jammu’s emotive politics behave arrogantly and mock with their core-constituencies, which have given them ‘unexpected’ support during the elections to Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha? Though getting repeatedly elected, they are still unknown to their committed voters. And when some hapless of them approach the beneficiaries, they get rude shocks of their lives. One of the ‘listed star campaigners’ is known for his boorish behaviour with the supporters. When they complain about something in lieu of the support they had extended during elections, they are rebuked with the snub “Next time don’t vote for me”. With such arrogance, how can they expect voter support? Such ‘so-called star campaigners’ keep listing and trumpeting achievements of others on every platform, including social media, to hoodwink those who matter in their career advancement. Notwithstanding their failures, they keep mocking at their supporters. This speaks volumes about their arrogance. Power seems to have gone to their heads. They have lost all sense of proportion. In a short span of six years they have distanced themselves from those who had nurtured the ideology for seven decades. The cool winters of Jammu are getting hotter these days with sensational disclosures. Despite the grim COVID scenario, the people are keenly observing the political developments as skeletons are horrifyingly falling from the cupboard. The star campaigners are tirelessly nailing the brokers of Jammu interest, who have plundered the resources of Dogras optimally with brazenness and contempt at the strength of their reach to power corridors. Jammu peripheries are dotted with plunderers, who, at one point of time or the other, have been facilitated by those who ought to have resisted, given their hyperboles on being custodians of Jammu interest. They never raised their voice as chosen representatives. They always tried to remain in the good books of betrayers of Jammu for their vested interest. Some of them, having access to the power corridors in New Delhi, preferred to behave like ‘paper tigers’ rather than ‘saviours of the people’. Now that their role is being played by energetic and well informed star campaigners, the selfish Messiahs are sabotaging all their endeavours. These boorish politicians are getting hugely exposed for their silence. When Jammu needed them, they comforted themselves in the power corridors. They harmed Jammu interests more than the ones who are now notoriously known as ‘Land Jihadis’. They betrayed Jammu when Jammuties empowered them; they ducked Jammu when it needed them the most; they belied Jammu’s hopes; they shattered Jammu’s dreams, they battered and bartered the Dogra pride; they bruised Jammu psyche. Now that Jammu is in poll mode, the crucial campaigning in deep interiors is becoming useless as the local ‘beneficiaries’ are working at cross purposes for obvious reasons. These junkies, whether in power corridors or in political wilderness, due to their betrayal with Jammu interest, are actually peeved over being neglected by their bosses, who don’t trust them anymore. Being irrelevant in the present day political set-up, the Jammu’s spent force, some of them named as star beneficiaries, are working overtime to sabotage the crusade launched by star campaigners.
