STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Waaris Cricket Club lifted Diwali Cricket Cup trophy after defeating Wave Cricket Club by three wickets in the final played at Railway Ground, here on Sunday. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Wave Club scored 111 runs in 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Gourav Khajuria was the top scorer with 30 runs hitting two sixes and Rakinder Singh (Robert) made 26. For Waaris Club, Varun was the most successful bowler, who picked four important wickets while Abhinav scalped two. While chasing, with the help of Nawaz’s 29 runs and Gourav’s 24 runs Waaris Club chased the target in 16.3 overs. Gourav was declared as Man of the Match while Henan Malik was declared as Best Batsman of the Tournament and Gourav Khajuria as Man of the Series. The tournament was officiated by Balbir Singh (Coach of Trikuta Cricket Academy). In the closing ceremony, Baba Chanchal Singh Chib was the Chief Guest who gave away the trophy to the winner team.
