state times news Jammu: Police have seized the car used in the Kishtwar terror attack in which a senior RSS functionary and his PSO were killed, an officer said on Sunday. The vehicle was recovered from an area in Kishtwar district, he said. Police have released a photograph of the owner of the vehicle, Zahid Hussain, who had been absconding since the attack, the officer said. “We have identified and tracked down a vehicle (used in the terror attack). We have identified its owner also,” Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, M K Sinha said. Hussain has reportedly joined terror outfit Hizb-ul-Mujahideen recently but police did not confirm this. According to sources, the car had a false number plate and had changed hands four times. “The vehicle in which the terrorist fled after the shoot-out was purchased by him a day before the incident,” police sources said.
They said that two of the brothers of Zahid Hussain, were associated with Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin outfit and they had surrendered before the security forces.
They added that Zahid is a close associate of Hizb Commander Osama in the Kashmir valley.
“Soon after Zahid joined the HM terrorist outfit on April 6, he was recruited in the ‘killer team’ and was assigned the task of target killing in Kishtwar,” they added.
Police said that the HM has constituted a ‘killer team’ in the state for target killings in which youth between the age group of 16 to 25 years have been recruited.
Senior RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma and his security guard were killed on April 9 when a terrorist opened fire inside a health centre in Kishtwar town.
