Tsewang RigzinLEH: Different students’ unions of Ladakh under the banner of All Ladakh Students’ Association took out a protest rally on Thursday in Leh highlighting various students’ related issues and demanding action from concerned authorities. Students in hundreds marched from NDS Stadium to main bazaar Leh raising slogans with placards in their hands. Addressing students at main bazaar, students’ leaders demanded full-fledged University for Ladakh, timely examination and declaration of results, bringing Ladakh under sixth schedule, job reservation for Ladakhi people for various posts, holding of LAHDC election in May-June, opening examination centers for UPSC, banking and other national-level competitive exams in Ladakh etc. The student leaders alleged that various district-level recruitment results and interviews are being postponed frequently and asked the administration to conduct interviews besides declaring results of the same in time. They also demanded for inclusion of Bhoti language at Senior Secondary and University levels. Improvement of infrastructure at Degree College Nubra was also highlighted on the occasion. Leaders from different students Unions addressed the rally and warned that if authorities failed to fulfill the highlighted demands of students, they would be forced to take to streets once again. They further alleged that public representatives and politicians are paying least attention towards students’ issues.
