STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Congratulating BJP led by PM Narendra Modi on completion of six years of BJP rule at Center including one year in second term, the Movement for Justice for Refugees of PoJK (MJR-47) on Saturday said that many historic decisions, so far presumed to be impossible by all other political parties, including abrogation of Article 370, 35A and bifurcation of J&K state into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh, were made during successful and glorious regime of PM Narendra Modi. Speaking during an online meeting, Convener MJR-47, J S Sudan said that DPs of 1947 are especially grateful to PM Narendra Modi for recognising injustice being done to DPs of 1947 during last 7 decades and taking a concrete initiative to grant token cash relief of Rs 2,000 crore in special package for J&K State in Nov 2015. The token amount was announced by the PM keeping in view the pending packages of Rs 9,096 crore and Rs 10,915 crore by the erstwhile J&K Govt and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in 2014 respectively, he added. “The recent formation of delimitation commission for realigning and creating 7 new assembly segments is another historic decision by PM to mitigate the inequality and injustice being done to people of Jammu region by erstwhile regimes. Inspite of fact that 24 Assembly seats have been kept reserved for the voters of PoJK areas, we DPs of 1947 have more than 12 lakh souls living in Jammu region. We do not have any Assembly segment to elect our own representative due to our scattered habitations over more than 20 assembly segments in Jammu province. Since the part of the state illegally occupied by Pakistan is agree to be an integral part of India by Parliamentary resolution of Feb 1994, we fail to understand what stops Indian Government to open up atleast 8 seats in proportion to our population,” he added. MJR-47 urged Union Government, J&K administration and the Delimitation Commission to open up atleast 8 assembly seats out of 24 kept reserved in proportion to DPs population living in UT of J&K.
