STATE TIMES NEWSUDHAMPUR: Taking serious cognizance of already illegally encroached forest land by the some local goons at famous Gangera hill, social workers Retd ZEO Bishan Dass Gupta has urged authorities that it should be vacated from the crutches of encroachers.Issuing a handout, Gupta said it is shocking that forest land which could have produced ‘green gold’ worth crores of rupees, has been illegally encroached across the UT of Jammu & Kashmir as per the list provided by the Forest department to the Division Bench of the High Court in hearing a PIL in respect of encroachment of forest land. He said Govt. must inquest a legal action against those who have encroached forest land at Gangera hill in Udhampur and it should be dealt with strictly under the law to serve as deterrent to other unscrupulous people.Gupta said on one hand local administration has launched so called anti encroachment drives and uprooted the temporary kiosks and other hand they took no action against those people who have encroached the forest land and raised RCC structure. He urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinah to take personal interest in vacating the aforesaid and developing Gangera hills as a tourist spot to attract tourists and boost the local economy.
