STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The four-week long UGC- General Orientation Course for University and College teachers organised by Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Urdu, University of Jammu concluded here on Tuesday. A.G Mir, ADGP Headquarters, J&K was the Chief Guest on the valedictory function. Terming teachers as role models and nation builders, Mir observed that the teaching community in the State hold a position of honour and are revered in the society. The role of the teacher should never be undermined, he remarked. Earlier, Prof Naresh Padha, Dean of Sciences while expressing gratitude to Mir and complimenting HRDC and Department of Urdu hoped that the teachers shall go back to their respective institutions and disseminate the knowledge further to their students. On the occasion, Mir was also felicitated by the University for his Outstanding Contribution for the State. Earlier, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Dean Faculty of Arts and HoD Urdu, in his welcome address underlined various areas of study that was covered in one month long programme. Prof Rahul Gupta Director HRDC and Ranjeet Kalra Teaching faculty at HRDC also spoke on the occasion. Among others Mohammad Ashraf Malik, former Joint Director Finance, Dr Chaman Lal, Dr Riyaz Ahmed, students, scholars and faculty members were also present.
