State Times News UDHAMPUR: Police on Saturday arrested two narcotic smugglers and recovered consignment of 51 kg of poppy straw and eight grams of heroin from their possession at Jakhani Chowk, NH Udhampur. Reports said that a party of Police Station Udhampur laid a Naka at Jakhani Chowk, NH Udhampur for checking of vehicles. During Naka checking, police stopped one Maruti car (HP 38-3940) which was subjected to thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 51 kg of poppy straw and eight grams of Chitta (heroin) was recovered from said vehicle. The narcotic smugglers identified as Mehraj-ul-Din alias Javid, son of Mohd. Ramza, resident of Gandoh, Doda and Siraj-ul-Din, son of Mohd. Ramzan, resident of Gandoh, Doda were arrested and a case vide FIR No. 162/19 under sections 8/15/21/22 NDPS was registered against them at Police Sttaion Udhampur One associate accused fled away from the spot with the involved vehicle. Police team have been deployed to arrest him.
