State Times News SAMBA: Police on Monday arrested two bootleggers and recovered 47 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and Police Station Ghagwal. Acting on reliable information regarding the sale of illicit liquor at Vijaypur town and in its adjoining areas, a party of Police Station Vijaypur rushed to the spot and arrested one person namely Ravindera Jena, son of Mohan Jena, resident of Mohulapalli, Kandarasingi, Ganjam-Bhanja Nagar, Odisha at present Vijaypur, Samba from Vijaypur main market who was selling illicit liquor to the general public at exorbitant rates to gain illegitimate profit. A total 30 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of accused person. In this regard, a case FIR No. 119/2020 under section 48 (A) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started. Meanwhile, a party of police post Rajpura while performing Naka duty at Lala Chak, Rajpura intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious ground. While frisking, 17 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession. The accused person identified as Durges, son of Khirsay, resident of Santpali-Bhawarpur, Mahasamund, Chattishgarh at present Rajpura has been arrested. A case vide FIR No. 70/2020 under section 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
