STATE TIMES NEWSSrinagar: A local terrorist was killed in a brief encounter with security forces in Budgam district on Monday, police said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Chadoora area following information about the presence of terrorists there, they said. A gunfight broke out after the lone terrorist opened fire on the security forces, who retaliated, resulting in the killing of the ultra. The slain terrorist has been identified as Adil Ahmed, a resident of Budgam. His group affiliation was not immediately known.
IED recovered from under a bridge in SoporeSrinagar: Security forces on Monday foiled a big terror plot in Sopore town by recovering 2 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) placed under a bridge. The joint operation was conducted by police and Army. The IED was recovered at Rafiabad in Baramulla district.
The police urged the locals to cooperate with the forces till the area is completely sanitised and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any. Meanwhile, Ganderbal Police this afternoon arrested a terrorist associate, identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganai resident of Fraw Haknar, Gund District Ganderbal.
As per police records, Ganaie has been assisting the active terrorists of proscribed outfit LeT operating in the areas of Ganderbal district.
During the course of investigation of case FIR No. 69/2019, pertaining to the encounter at Kullan Ganderbal in which a Pakistani terrorist was killed, it was learnt that Tariq Ganai had provided help and assistance to an active terrorist Nisar Dar and transported him away to Sumbal area after he had escaped from the encounter site at Kullan Ganderbal.
Further investigations are progressing in the case.
The security forces are continuing to maintain edge over terrorists active in the Valley. Three “most wanted” Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in the Tral area of Pulwama district yesterday.
The terrorists — Umer Fayaz Lone alias “Hamad Khan” of Seer village, Faizan Hamid of Mandoora and Adil Bashir Mir alias “Abu Dujana” of Monghama — were wanted for their complicity in terror crimes, including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
