State Times NewsPOONCH: On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, a special Puja was performed in the morning at Baba Buddha Amarnath Shrine in Tehsil Mandi here by Atal Pithadishwar Rajguru Acharya Mahamandalesh-war Shri Shri 1008 Shri Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswatiji Maharaj amid chanting of Vedic Mantras along with other saints. After Puja, a traditional and historic flag hoisting ceremony was carried out by Swamiji to mark the celebrations and also to carry forward the old age tradition of this Holy Shrine. It is believed that on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, devotees from different parts visit here and paid their obedience to Lord Shiva by doing Abhishek Puja and by knotting holy thread (Rakhis) to the mace and pray for peace and brotherhood in the region. At last, a langar was organised on the occasion. It is pertinent to mention here that the Holy Mace remained at Budha Amarnath Shrine for three days where it was worshipped by the devotees and then it would be brought back tomorrow to Dashnami Akhara Poonch and would be kept on its earlier place by Swamiji, who is the head priest of the Akhara temple. Speaking on the occasion, Swamiji said that right from commencement of this year’s Yatra all the programmes have been covered under instructions given by local administration and today’s functions were also performed by maintaining strict social distancing norms. Swamiji thanked everyone for their cooperation in the Yatra and appealed to the general public not to gather outside the temple premises and avoid creating unnecessary problems for the security agencies. Everyone should follow the social distancing norms and also to go along with guidelines issued by the local administration to fight against COVID-19, he said.
