STATE TIMES NEWS AKHNOOR: Outplaying Stadium XI Jammu by a big margin of 76 runs in the clash, Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor won the friendly match, organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor under the supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, Chairman Akhnoor Tehsil Cricket Committee, here on Sunday. Deepak Mani, Councilor Ward No 10 Akhnoor was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who besides felicitating winners and runners-up teams and players also honoured the members of organizing committee. Earlier batting first after winning the toss, Singh Cricket Club scored a mammoth total of 227 runs in the stipulated 25 overs, losing nine wickets in the process. Sunil Govil played a brilliant innings of 110 runs off 56 balls, while Rahul Shanty contributed valuable 70 runs off 38 balls. For Stadium XI Jammu, Dhruv Gupta was most successful bowler who grabbed five wickets while Akash, Jivesh and Riyansh took one each. In reply, Stadium XI Jammu failed to chase the target and managed to score only 151 for the loss of six wickets, thus lost the match by a big margin of 76 runs. Yubby top scored with 55 runs, while Ishan contributed 47 to the total. For Singh Club, Chander Kiran scalped two wickets while Sham Singh Langeh, Sunil Govil, Pankaj Verma and Nikhil Jamwal took one each. Sunil Govil was declared as the Man of the Match for his superb century.
