JAMMU: Dr Vivak M. Arya, Assistant Professor of SKUAST-Jammu got Best Oral & Poster Presentation Awards in the two-day National Seminar on ‘Smart Technologies to Boost Farm Profitability and Socio Economic Status of Rural India’ jointly organized by SKUAST-J and Royal Association for Science led Socio-Cultural Advancement (RASSA).
The award was presented by Dr Ram Vishawkarma, Director, IIIM, Jammu in the presence of Prof S.S Sarangdevot, Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, who was the Chief Guest of the valedictory function held here.
The paper authored by Dr Arya, Dr Vikas Sharma, Dr K.R Sharma and Ajay Thakur entitled ‘Effect of Conservation Techniques on SQI in rainfed orchards of Jammu Zone’ studied the effect of soil conservation modules on SQI in rainfed orchards of Jammu zone and discussed about the importance of conservation agriculture practices especially in context of changing climate and for maintaining soil quality.
The paper gave solution to the issues pertaining to the extreme weather events and changing pattern of horticulture and agriculture in state.
The paper authored by Dr. Arya, Dr. Vikas Sharma & Ajay Thakur entitled ‘Effect of conservation modules on water quality of the adopted village ponds in the lower Shivaliks of Jammu’ studied that water resource in the lower Shivalik region of Jammu is facing daunting challenges due to urbanization, industrialization and huge demand for agricultural activities.
