Sports Reporter JAMMU: Beating Laxmi Cricket Club by 49 runs, Simula Cricket Club on Saturday lifted the ‘Salute to Indian Armed Forces’ Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Parade Sports Association (PSA) at Parade ground, here. Simula, batting first, after winning the toss made 170 runs with Puneet and Atul Sharma being top scorers, who contributed 48 and 45 runs respectively. For Laxmi Club, Vikram Dogra was most successful bowler with three for 28. In reply, Laxmi could not chase the target and exhausted their quota of overs for 121 runs losing eight wickets. Rohan Koul made half century, followed by Pardeep Bali (19). Vikram Singh for Simula took three wickets for 26 runs. Puneet of Simula was later declared Man of the Match while Abdul Samad of NCC was adjudged best batsman. Vikram Singh of Simula was declared best bowler of the tournament while Rohan Koul of Laxmi Club adjudged Man of the Series. In the final and valedictory of the tournament, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta was Chief Guest while Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma and R K Bhat (SSP) were Guests of Honour. Speaking to the gathering, Major assured of improved facilities at Parade Ground for sports. The Deputy Mayor promised construction of a public utility services on modern lines.
