STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A religious Shobha Yatra of Sheetla Mata was taken out with religious fervour and gaiety from Raghunath Temple wherein large number of devotees from Jammu and Kashmir and other states participated. The participating devotees performed rare acts by piercing Trishuls in their tongues and cheeks and pulling the Rath of Mata by tying chains to their waists. The Yatra passed through Raghunath Bazaar and various markets of the city. A large number of devotees take part in this Yatra every year. They pay reverence to Goddess Sheetla Mata by performing heroic feats. They walk on burning coal, pierce body with metallic rods of different shapes, etc. They have undaunted faith that such daring acts to show devotion to Mata Sheetla will not harm them and their wounds will get healed miraculously.
