In Jammu district, ownership rights on huge rebates given to occupants for 44,915 kanals of State land

JAMMU: Out of 44,915 kanals of the State land regularised in favour of different unauthorised occupants in Jammu district under the so-called Roshni Act of 2001, the biggest beneficiary has been Late Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, a close relative of the three former Chief Ministers, namely Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.Ownership rights of 21,600 sq ft of the occupied State land have been vested to Sheikh Nazir, former General Secretary of the J&K National Conference (NC) at Vir Marg, behind the Dak Bungalow on Residency Road. At the rate of Rs 1.25 crore, its value has been worked out at Rs 5 crore. However, Mr Nazir has enjoyed a rebate of Rs 4.46 crore and paid only Rs 53.66 lakh. NC’s Jammu province headquarters and several other offices are sitting on the same premises, known as Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan. This has been marked as the second costliest spot in Jammu.In Jammu, the highest rate of Rs 1.50 crore per kanal has been fixed for the land given to one Kasturi Lal at Gummat. However, it involves a small area of only 165 sq ft.C.L. Gulati and sons, owners of the National Garage (NG), on B.C. Road in Jammu have taken ownership rights on 3 kanals and 9 marlas of the State land. Rate of Rs 90 lakh has been fixed for one kanal. The occupants had to pay Rs 3.13 crore. They have enjoyed a rebate of Rs 2.43 crore and paid only Rs 70.64 lakh.SS Jain Sabha Rani Talab Jammu have been given ownership rights on the occupied State land of 2 kanals. They have enjoyed a rebate of Rs 58 lakh and paid only Rs 7.37 lakh. SS Jain Sabha Rani Park has taken ownership rights on the occupied State land of 1 kanal and 3 marlas, while enjoying a rebate of Rs 28.16 lakh and paying only Rs 9.24 lakhs.Jugal Kishore of Rakh Raipur Jammu has taken ownership rights over the occupied State land of 2 kanals and 7 marlas. He has enjoyed a rebate of Rs 72.85 lakh and paid only Rs 21.15 lakh.Jagjivan Ram at Rehari Jammu has taken rights over 1 kanal and I marla of State land. He is shown to have enjoyed a rebate of Rs 46.16 lakh and paid only Rs 19.78 lakh. One Sham Sunder has taken ownership rights over the occupied State land of 10 marlas at Ahata Kalan, Exchange Road Jammu, while enjoying a rebate of Rs 12.18 lakh and paying only Rs 2.81 lakhs. S. Raghbir Singh at New Rehari Jammu has taken ownership rights on the occupied State land of 10 marlas. He has enjoyed a rebate of Rs 11.52 lakh and paid only Rs 4.10 lakh.Dr V.K. Pachnanda at Rehari in Jammu has got ownership rights over 3 kanals and 1 marla of the occupied State land. He has enjoyed a rebate of Rs 1.52 crore and paid only Rs 30.54 lakh. Suresh Kumar of Trikuta Nagar has taken ownership rights on the occupied State land of 2 kanals and 1 marla at Rakh Raipur. He has enjoyed a rebate of Rs 65 lakh and paid only Rs 18.84 lakh.
