STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Several political and social organisations paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary here on Thursday. National Panthers Party (NPP) along with several other progressive and secular political activists paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. The NPP leadership expressed surprise on silence of all ruling parties of India, right from Congress to BJP, for not conferring Bharat Rattan award to Netaji till date. Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party said, “Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has not been presented the Bharat Rattan award till date by any of the Governments. In fact, he should be the first to be honoured with Bharat Rattan. Now, the Parliament should confer Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose with Bharat Rattan award along with all other heroes of freedom struggle including Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Asfaqullah Khan and many others.”
District Jammu West of BJP organised a programme at District Headquarters to celebrate birth anniversary of Bose. The programme, organised under the leadership of District President Munish Khajuria, was addressed by former Minister and ex-MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma. Chairmen of JMC committees, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Jeet Angral and Suraj Padha were also felicitated on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Sat said that Bose will always be remembered as a hero and nation will not forget the sacrifices, he made for the nation. Mandal President Keshav Chopra conducted proceedings of the programme while Mandal President Raveesh Mengi presented vote of thanks. Sanjay Baru, Praduman Singh, Dinesh Gupta, Subash Sharma, Sunita Gupta, Neelam Nargotra, Dr Akshay Sharma, Suneet Raina, Sat Pal Karlupia, Jaideep Sambyal, Rajesh Gupta, Annu Behnal, Kamini Gupta, Urvashi Gupta, Arun Jamwal, Ajay Manhas, Vikas Sharma, Pratibha Sharma, Asha Sharma, Sudesh, Jatinder Kour, Jyoti Bhat, Paramjeet, Radha Sharma, Praveen Ghai, Munish Gupta, Sanjay Bhat, Kusum Lata, Deepak Kumar and Sahil Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Congress also organised a function near Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose statue, at Maheshpura Jammu to remember the great freedom fighter on his birth anniversary. PCC Chief G A Mir presided over the function, which was attended by senior leaders and functionaries of PCC, DCC Presidents & functionaries and frontal Wings of the Party, Corporators besides large number of workers. Senior leaders present on the occasion included Madan Lal Sharma (Ex-MP); PCC Vice Presidents Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, G M Saroori and Kanta Bhan, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Th Balwan Singh & Th. Manmohan Singh, Former Ministers Dr Manohar Lal Sharma (DCC President Kathua), Shabir Ahmed Khan (DCC President Rajouri), Vikram Malhotra (Jammu Urban), Hari Singh Chib (DCC President Jammu Rural), Ch Abdul Ghani (DCC President Poonch), Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA and President Mahila Congress), Th Shiv Dev Singh (Ex-MLA), S S Shinghari, Gurdarshan Singh, Suresh Dogra, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Rajesh Sadhotra (Seva Dal), Raqeeq Ahmed Khan (NSUI), Neeraj Gupta, Shashi Sharma, Pawan Raina, Parveen Sarwar Khan, Iqbal Dar, Zahida Khan, Krishan Lal Gupta, Narinder Gupta and Gajan Singh. Speaking on the occasion, the PCC Chief recalled historic fight and resistance put out by Indian National Army under leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose, which is a unique chapter in the history. He also remembered all members /soldiers of INA and paid tributes to them on the occasion, who fought against British valiantly. Later, several eminent leaders and activists from BJP and other parties joined Congress in presence of G A Mir and other senior leaders at the venue of the function. Those who joined Congress included Vijay Shastri BJP Rural District SC Morcha President; Naib Sarpanch Chanchal, Bachan Lal (PDP), Sub Balwan Singh, Numberdar Jagdish Singh, Kuldeep Raj, Ram Singh, Sanju Kumar, Mahinder Ram, Neelu Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Rajan Kumar and Aditya Kumar. Meanwhile, Congress leaders under the Chairmanship of Vinod Sharma, senior congress leader paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary here. Lauding the services of Netaji to the country during the freedom struggle, Sharma said, “We salute and respect him for forming the Azad Hind Fauj.”
J&K Freedom Fighters’ Association (JKFFA) held a function at JMC Park Town Hall Jammu to remember Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta was the Chief Guest while Advocate Purnima Sharma, Dy Mayor was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The function was organised by JKFFA Chairman Ved Gandotra and Vice Chairman Rajiv Mahajan, President R.C Puri, General Secretary Th Karnail Chand besides executive members of association. Speaking on the occasion, Chander Mohan Gupta said that Bose believed that non-violence would never be sufficient to secure independence. Gajan Singh Khalsa, Dr Karan Gupta, Pritam Sharma, R R Raina, Brij Mehra, K L Verma, Vikas Devan, Ravinder Mittal and Gourav were also present on the occasion.
