With COVID-19 contagion spreading its tentacles on a wider scale across the country, those responsible for taking decisions on imparting quality education and conducting exams in the country are seem to be in a fix as their voyage to enlighten and mould young minds has turned out to be long, difficult and tardy. It is however praiseworthy that intellect of all the helmsmen steering education sector has been collectively put to test during these uncertain times of pandemic and the same has not disappointed the nation till date and it is likely that the challenges confronting the educational realms will be tackled efficiently setting up a model for other nations to follow. There is no doubt that the phase currently running is unprecedented but with sincere efforts and dedicated moves India will overcome virus and complicacies related to it. As of now it is coming out that no timeline has been fixed yet by the concerned ministry for once again calling young and budding children to schools as various state governments have refused to take the risk looking at the drastic increase in the cases of infection and spike in deaths. It is however being mulled to commence some classes for senior students from ending September though the discussions on the issue still are at infancy stage with nobody giving nod to overlook the risk factor involved. Taking utmost care the sources at the concerned central ministry have revealed that in case of resuming higher classes also the government shall only issue advisories and the final nod entirely will be the prerogative of local administrations, which can gauge the pandemic situation before going to call the students back to schools. It is pertinent to mention that educational institutions were shut during mid March as part of measures to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. As far as conduct of examinations is concerned the Education Ministry officials have asserted that this academic year will not get wasted as they are still hopeful that they may be able to hold examinations after the situation turns conducive. It is good that scores of measures are being purposed and implemented to maintain the standard of education in the country including introduction of question banks, community classes, online classes, etc but the entire spectrum of steps taken will mainly depend on corona’s future and till then countrymen should hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
