STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Senior Citizens Club Udhampur on Thursday held its monthly meeting which was presided by Chairman of the Club Dr. Adarsh Prakash, at Jagriti Old age home Udhampur. In the meeting it was decided to launch a ‘warm winter programme’ under which the Club will reach to the poor and needy families in rural hamlets and will provide blankets and warm clothing as its endeavor and social responsibility towards the society in need of the care. President of the Club Mahadeep Singh Jamwal in consultation with general body of the Club constituted a three member committee to identify such segment/families in consultation with their representatives in acute need of warm clothing. Another committee was constituted to pay a visit to the ‘Bal Ashram Udhampur’ and ‘Nari Niketan Ashram Udhampur’ being run under the Social Welfare Department to access the facilities being provided to the inmates and to identify their needs and to access their living conditions. The Committee will submit a comprehensive report to the Governing body of the Club and if need arises the District Administration will be apprized for corrective measures. It was apprized by the President of the Club that Social Welfare Deptt. Udhampur has planned a visit to old age home Udhampur to look for the modalities of setting up of ‘Day Care Centre for elderly People’ as formulated by Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Social Welfare Department vide Government Order No. 91-SW of 2019 dated March 8, 2019. Before onset of the meeting the Club observed two minutes silence followed by ‘Shanti Path’ by Shastri Hans Raj Sharma, member of the Club, as homage in memory of the wife of Sewa Singh Mankotia, retired SP and active member of the Club, who left for heavenly abode few days back and also prayed for early recovery of the father of the Club Advisor S K Gandotra, undergoing treatment in Naraina Hospital Katra.
