Termed as a bridge between J&K and Union of India by some valley-based political leaders, the contentious Article 370, in reality, was a wall that kept development and prosperity away from J&K. This temporary provision of the constitution was tactfully used by the self-centered leaders for befooling gullible people besides acquiring huge wealth by open loot of public exchequer, as there was no check due to Article 370. Now after necessary amendments in Article 370 and abrogation of Article 35A, people are confident that J&K will leap forward on path of development like other States as the funds meant for people will be used for people.
Maninder Kour, a University student hailed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the most righteous course for clearing the seven decades old misunderstanding, which people throughout the world were carrying along about the State of Jammu and Kashmir. An error which crept in the Constitution of India was rectified with the abrogation of Art 370. Pakistan has no right to raise its voice in this matter, she said. “Pakistan’s making noise against eroding or including any clause by India in its own constitution, has no bearing at all. Pakistan has no right to stage its claim regarding Jammu and Kashmir. It is taking the benefit of the leniency and mercifulness of some Indian leaders who allowed Pakistan to have some portion of Jammu and Kashmir by unilaterally issuing ceasefire in 1947, which now need to be rectified”, she said. “Let it be made fully clear to Pakistan that State of Jammu and Kashmir right up to Gilgit was owned by Maharaja Hari Singh and he, out of his own will and wish handed it over to India through an instrument of accession in 1947. Pak should not forget that the illegally occupied portion of Jammu and Kashmir lawfully belongs to India which Pak should vacate honestly”, she added.
Stating that bright days are ahead for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Tejinder Kour, a scholar termed the decision of abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A from the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir a bold and courageous step. She said that the bold and decisive move by the Centre would not only ensure the development of Jammu and Kashmir but would also grant dignity to people of the State. She further reiterated that weaker sections would be real beneficiaries of the initiatives taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “This step will prove as a game-changer for youth with big investments coming for setting up of industries and rejuvenating corporate sector that may eventually lead to adequate opportunities of jobs for educated unemployed, skilled and unskilled work-force,” she said, adding that youth have high hopes from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dolly Chandhoke, a school teacher hailed the bold decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah to abrogate notorious Articles 370 and 35A. She said that the people of Jammu region living in J&K bore the brunt of aforesaid Articles for decades together resulting in halt of desired progress of the people. She blamed the Congress, NC, PDP and other Valley based parties for the continued mischief leading to the continued neglect of the region and its people. She made a fervent appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the quick implementation of all laws favouring the common masses in the newly created Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Om Parkash Gupta, trader said that Article 370 had contributed nothing for the development of Jammu region. The Kashmir centric politicians have misused Article 370 and misguided people of the Valley, particularly youth by instigating them to indulge in stone pelting or other anti-national activities, he added. He said that the common man in Jammu got nothing from this Article except step-motherly treatment in every sector whether education, employment or development. He appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take adequate measures to address unemployment and other issues which the people of Jammu are facing for past more than seventy years due to Kashmir-centric policies of the political executives.
