STATE TIMES NEWS RAMNAGAR: A Save Rights Sammelan was organised at Ramnagar by All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, Ramnagar Unit. Large number of people from all walks of life including students, educated unemployed youth, retd. and ex servicemen, employees, Panchs, Sarpanchs and others joined the Sammellan. State President Confederation, RK Kalsotra participated in the Sammellan as Chief Guest. While addressing the Rights Sammellan, Kalsotra greeted the participants for organising such a grand event. Kalsotra was happy to witness a large gathering at the event, which came to talk and discuss about the shrinking rights of vulnerable sections. Kalsotra quoted few stats which highlight the skewness in reservation. There are about 5 lakh employees in state out of which 17,000 are SC, 34000 are ST and 5000 are OBC; although, reservation provided was 8, 10 and 2 per cent respectively. He said that if people want their rights to be saved, they have to stay united against the hegemony of Judiciary and Executive, which collectively is conspiring to dilute the rights of SC/ST/OBCs. Kalsotra reacted at the decision of Supreme Court regarding Reservation in Promotions not being a fundamental right. He said that until and unless there is lack of representation of vulnerable sections in the Judiciary, such judgements will be observed by the courts which are against the rights of vulnerable sections. Confederation, at national level has already initiated the process to fight against such biased decisions of Supreme Court. A call for Bharat Bhand has been given for 23rd February and Confederation fully extends the support and advices the cadre to join that. He also highlighted the conspicuous role of Judiciary and Executive, two main bodies of our system, which is moving away from welfare oriented approach. Both, judiciary and executive, have acted against the welfare of SC/ST/OBCs by attacking the Constitution and Fundamental Rights of depressed classes. Others who addressed the conference were Sham Bhasin, Yassar Ch., Kuldeep Bhagat, Shiv Ram Bhagat, Tika Ram, Khan Mohd, Vijay Kumar, Shukantla Devi, Mohd Isaak, Kaku Ram, Beli Ram & Kisho Ram.
