State Times News JAMMU: As Jammu is witnessing rise in cases of thefts and burglaries, a fresh case of theft of Rs 3.50 lakh cash and gold ornaments weighing 120 gms has been reported from Channi Himmat area on late Sunday evening. The thieves broke opened the window pane of a car parked outside the Marriage Hall in Channi Himmat and decamped with a bag containing cash and gold ornaments. As per reports, Channi Himmat Police received the complaint from Raj Kumar, son of Baldev Ram, resident of Praveen Colony, Trikuta Nagar that his bag containing Rs 3.50 lakh cash and 120 gm gold jewellery, which he had kept in a car outside the banquet-hall in Channi Himmat area, was stolen by someone. He further informed that he was busy in the marriage function of his daughter and on returning back, found the bag missing. Police has registered a case and started investigation. In the last two weeks, police has received over a dozen theft reports in Jammu only. Last month, the burglars had decamped with J&K Bank ATM from Bawe Talab with Rs 10,98,200 cash. In another case, a bag containing Rs 1.50 lakh cash was stolen from a car parked near Auqaf Market Gandhi Nagar.
Besides this, two major theft reports were lodged at Police Stations Trikuta Nagar and Warehouse. According to reports, Sanjay Kumar, resident of Trikuta Nagar lodged a complaint that some burglars struck at his mobile shop and took away mobiles worth Rs 2 lakh. In another case, a truck driver lodged a complaint at Police Station Warehouse that cash amounting to Rs 2.26 lakh was stolen from his truck at Warehouse, Jammu.
