Surely fatigue and dismay is taking toll as the fight against COVID-19 contagion is getting long and precarious with cases rising sharply and facilities shrinking by each passing day. The distasteful scenes which were witnessed in the newly carved out Union Territory among medics and cops in last couple of days are quite unfortunate but tells a different story which should be handled on priority and with extreme care as both the entities in this case are prestigious frontline warriors who have set an example of devotion to duty and rendered selfless service towards ailing people of the region. In sequel to clash between medicos and security personnel various associations of doctors and paramedics are demanding action against those cops involved in the row but here comes the need to first ascertain the reasons behind such ugly episodes as both the parties involved are vital parts of J&K UT’s administration and in no way are behind to one another in accomplishing the jobs they have been assigned during this most difficult time of pandemic when each and every individual of the region needs special care and compassion. The allegations that during the past few weeks the doctors including senior doctors, paramedics and other healthcare professionals of either gender have been harassed by some elements within the police while they were on their way to work should need a thorough probe but at the same time there is need to go into deeply that how come such disarray erupted between these two fraternities as nothing of this sort had happened earlier even during peak of tumultuous days of terrorism in Valley. Although, things should be investigated on case to case basis but what is more important is to ask both ends to abstain from indulging in such incidents by showing patience and gratitude and not getting egoistic for the reason that what they are doing right now for the society is far more bigger and a noble cause and such petty instances should not be allowed to create hindrances in the fight to eliminate corona, the gesture which will be recorded in the history of mankind as ‘supreme of all’.
