REASI: Apni Party Vice President and Former Minister Aijaz Ahmed Khan today hailed the decision of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to roll back the decision of implementing Property Tax in Jammu and Kashmir. In a press statement, Khan said that there was strong resentment against the decision of implementing Property Tax which has put additional burden on the pockets of the people in municipal limits. He said that the Govt has taken timely decision keeping in view the sentiments of the people. Khan hoped that similar public friendly decisions should be taken by the Govt led by Sinha. The Jammu and Kashmir which has gone through the toughest period of militancy needs special attention from the Government of India and decisions which are taken in haste are bound to attract condemnation and alienation from the Govt policies. It would have undone all the good work done in Jammu and Kashmir, if the Govt would have continued with their decision on property tax, he said referring to the welfare and developmental initiatives in the Union Territory. He said that the Govt’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assurance that the Statehood would be restored is also a welcome decision, but people will wait till the time of restoration of the statehood.“It is not only a concern of Jammu, but Kashmir is equally agitating against the downgrading of the royal state into a Union Territory without Legislative Council and all powers snatched,” he said.
