STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: Accusing the government of pursuing anti people policies in J&K, a strong contingent of JKNPP activists led by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister, Yash Paul Kundal, General Secretary-JKNPP & former Minister held a massive protest at Samba on Wednesday. The protestors raising slogans against BJP, central and state government sought immediate restoration of 4G mobile services besides roll back of increased taxes and cesses on petrol and diesel. The protestors also torched effigy of BJP government amid shouting of anti govt slogans. Speaking on the occasion, Harsh lambasted the government for dishonouring the aspirations of various segments of society seeking restoration of 4G connectivity. He said that with around one year of communication blockade in the form of 4G denial to the common masses, the government’s ill conceived move had sparked massive outrage amongst the public. The denial of 4G connectivity had operated harshly against the interests of students youth, traders, professionals, media man and the common man and caused irreparable losses to varied sections of society. The students and youth had immensely suffered with the government averse to their woes and problems. Even the educated unemployed youth were not getting their domicile certificates due to poor connectivity this belying the government’s tall claims of providing the said facility through online services. Seeking the early restoration of 4G services, Singh said that any further delay could prove counter-productive. Pointing towards the sharp increase in the fuel prices during the last few days, Singh called for roll back of the increase in Excise duty and other cesses imposed on petrol and diesel. He said that petrol was costing $ 50 per barrel in the international market thereby suggesting that one liter of fuel did not cost more than Rs. 23. But the government was charging around Rs. 80 per liter which was a dacoity committed upon the common man. Yash Paul Kundal while condemning the persistent hike in petrol and diesel prices reminded the BJP govt of its lofty slogans made during 2014 elections. He said that BJP had ascended the throne of power on the assurance of curbing inflation with particular reference to reduction in fuel prices. The unprecedented hike in fuel and gas has exposed the BJP in its true colours. He further called for reservation of border dwellers in govt jobs and early issuance of certificates to IB dwellers and LoC residents so that they could avail of reservation benefits. Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Rajeshwar Singh Sambyal, Surinder Chouhan, Yash Paul Sharma, Arun Khajuria, Mohd Sharif, Rajni Sambyal, Councillor, Indu Councillor, Rajeshwar Councillor, Hakam Chand Councillor besides several Sarpanchs and Panchs.
