STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: A meeting of DP’s of 1947 from POK was held at Village Keerian Gandyal, Kathua, jointly presided our by Gurdev Singh President Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) and Bhushan Sharma President District Kathua, wherein several senior members of adjoining areas participated and discussed several issues confronting DP’s particularly disbursal of relief package, mutation of land under DP’s dwelling, adequate compensation in lieu of deficient allotted lands for remaining DP’s families, relief package for families having only supplementary records and issuance of order for providing a relief to 5300 families residing outside J&K. The participant appealed to Prime Minister Narindera Modi and Amit Shah, Home Minister, to issue advisory to LT. Governor Garish Chander Murmu to take immediate measures to resolve these micro level issues and redesign a comprehensive road map for the final settlement of DP’s taking into account the recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee Report on Home Affairs. While interacting with the participants, Gurdev Singh President said that the JKSAC being a historical organisation of DP’s is consistently struggling for seeking the full and final rehabilitation of DP’s. He said that this organisation is seized of all the said issues and is committed not to take rest until and unless the same are not resolved as per the legitimate aspirations of DP’s. He asked the participants to highlight the said issues among the DP’s in order to make administration responsive for their redressal. Further elaborating his views, he demanded that Lt. Governor, Sh. Murmu should immediately recommend and stress upon the Central Government for early acceptance and implementation of JPC report to give relief to DP’s and similarly its ratification in current parliament session, till a final road map is prepared for the final settlement of DPs taking into account their loss of lives and properties left in POK. He reminded that JPC report was submitted in Dec. 2014 in both the houses of parliament is still pending for acceptance by the Govt. of India. Deliberating upon the major issues concerning DP’s particularly reservations/employment package for their wards, adequate compensation for their left out properties in POK, delimitation of their share of assembly seats, he said that the settlement issues cannot be considered as full and final until & unless these issues are not fully resolved. He said that it is sad and most regrettable that the DP’s remained neglected and were deprived of their due rights since decades due to power politics over J&K by Pakistan as well as previous Congress central dispensation. Other who spoke were Bhushan Sharma, Gani Harjeet Singh, Darshan Lal and Vakil Singh.
