STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,698 new COVID-19 cases, taking the union territory’s tally to 52,410, while 10 more fatalities pushed the toll to 864, officials said.It is for the 10th time in as many days that the number of fresh cases has crossed 1,000 in a 24-hour period.A Cardiologist including three Resident Doctors of Cardiologist Unit of Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Jammu have tested positive for COVID-19, according to officials.The concerned unit of the hospital has been shut and is being sanitised.Three senior doctors practicing at a private nursing home at Rehari also tested corona positive.
Two more COVID-19 patients die in Ladakh, toll now 38Leh: Two more coronavirus positive elderly persons succumbed to the infection in Ladakh, bringing the number of deaths linked to the disease to 38 in the Union Territory, officials said on Saturday.Both the deaths were reported from Leh district on Friday, the officials said. The deceased, aged 98 and 82, had tested positive for COVID-19 a few days back, they said. The officials said the two were also suffering from other ailments and age-related issues. Of the total COVID-19 deaths in Ladakh, 15 were reported in Leh and 23 in Kargil district, they said. Ladakh had recorded a virus caseload of 3,228 till Friday evening. According to the officials, while 2,378 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection, 803 others are under treatment in the UT — 452 in Leh and 351 in Kargil.
“The UT recorded 1,698 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — with 838 in Jammu and 860 in the Kashmir Valley,” the officials said.This is the highest single-day spike in the union territory so far, they said.The total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has now risen to 52,410.Srinagar district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 255, followed by 250 in Jammu district, the officials said.There are 16,261 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVD-19), while 35,285 patients have recovered so far, they said.Ten more people infected with coronavirus died in Jammu and Kashmir in the 24 hours till 5.00 pm on Friday — six in the Jammu region and four in the Kashmir Valley, the officials said.With this, the death toll in the union territory has climbed to 864.According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 52,410 positive cases, 16,261 are Active Positive, 35,285 have recovered and 864 have died; 143 in Jammu division and 721 in Kashmir division.The Bulletin further said that out of 12,03,799 test results available, 11,51,389 samples have been tested as negative till September 11, 2020.Till date 5,15,897 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,414 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 16,261 in isolation and 53,090 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,03,268 persons have completed their surveillance period.Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,498 positive cases (including 255 cases reported today) with 1,921 Active Positive, 9,329 recovered (including 129 cases recovered today), 248 deaths; Baramulla has 3,399 positive cases (including 82 cases reported today) with 873 Active Positive, 2,414 recovered (including 03 cases recovered today), 112 deaths; Pulwama reported 3,119 positive cases (including 50 cases reported today) with 439 active positive cases, 2,620 recovered (including 66 cases recovered today), 60 deaths; Kulgam has 2,069 positive cases (including 10 cases reported today) with 126 Active Positive, 1,903 recoveries (including 06 cases recovered today), 40 deaths; Shopian has 1,865 positive cases (including 60 cases reported today) with 148 Active Positive, 1,688 recovered (including 10 cases recovered today), 29 deaths; Anantnag district has 2,848 positive cases (including 45 cases reported today) with 676 Active Positive, 2,119 recovered (including 61 cases recovered today), 53 deaths; Budgam has 3,580 positive cases (including 123 cases reported today) with 1,226 Active Positive and 2,284 recovered (including 36 cases recovered today), 70 deaths; Kupwara has 2,784 positive cases (including 108 cases reported today) with 940 Active Positive, 1,788 recovered (including 23 cases recovered today), 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,710 positive cases (including 82 cases reported today) with 796 Active Positive, 1,886 recovered (including 12 cases recovered today), 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 2,025 positive cases (including 45 cases reported today) with 539 active positive cases, 1,461 recoveries (including 31 cases recovered today) and 25 deaths.Similarly, Jammu has 7,947 positive cases (including 250 cases reported today) with 5,258 active positive cases, 2,604 recoveries (including 138 cases recovered today), 85 deaths; Rajouri has 1,364 positive cases (including 83 cases reported today) with 521 active positive cases, 828 recovered (including 01 cases recovered today), 15 deaths; Ramban has 794 positive cases (including 31 cases reported today) with 140 active positive, 653 recoveries, 01 death; Kathua has 1,285 positive cases (including 42 cases reported today) with 404 Active positive, 870 recovered (including 16 cases recovered today), 11 deaths; Udhampur has 1,398 positive cases (including 103 cases reported today) with 579 active positive cases, 815 recovered, 04 deaths; Samba has 1,037 positive cases (including 58 cases reported today) with 409 Active Positive, 620 recoveries (including 03 cases recovered today), 08 deaths; Doda has 732 positive cases (including 67 cases reported today) with 329 active positive cases, 394 recoveries (including 07 cases reported today), 09 deaths; Poonch has 821 positive cases (including 93 cases reported today) with 415 active positive, 400 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered today), 06 deaths; Reasi has 570 positive cases (including 33 cases reported today) with 212 active positive, 355 recoveries (including 09 cases reported today) and 03 deaths while Kishtwar has 565 positive cases (including 78 cases reported today) with 310 active positive cases and 254 recoveries (including 35 cases recovered today) and 01 death .According to the bulletin, of the total 52,410 positive cases in J&K, 7,591 have been reported as travellers while 44,819 as others.Two more CO
