JAMMU: Trouble seems to be mounting for Talib Hussain, the self-styled Gujjar activist and lawyer, as his father-in-law Mohammed Tahir, on Tuesday dragged his name in the fidayeen attack case on Nagrota Army Camp, headquartering 16 Corps, in November 2016.
Already facing charges of rape and murder, Talib Hussain had hogged headlines during the unfortunate Rassana case for his alleged role in inciting passions and creating divide between various segments of society at the peak of protests.
Talking to media persons, Mohammed Tahir claimed that Talib Hussain had links with terrorists.
“He may not have been caught with weapons but he was always sympathetic towards terrorists. He created division in the society and incited rift between people belonging to different religions to spearhead his agenda”, Mohammed Tahir said and alleged that before the fidayeen strike in Nagrota took place, few people, travelling in a SUMO, had arrived in Talib Hussain’s residence near Mansar in Samba district.
“On the fateful day my daughter, wife of Talib Hussain, was also present in the house”, he said, adding that shortly after they left from his residence news of terror attack in Nagrota was reported in the media.
Mohammed Tahir also claimed that Talib Hussain had directed his wife to remain silent on the identity of visitors. He had told her the visitors were special guests and she should avoid telling about their presence in the house to even her father.
“My daughter informed me about this after Talib decided to dump her and started living separately”, Mohammed Tahir said.
A three-member fidayeen squad, aided by Kashmir based Over Ground Workers, had attacked Nagrota Army Camp in the wee hours of November 29, 2016. Seven army personnel including, two officers were martyred in the attack.
The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency.
Mohammed Tahir, while expressing serious concern over the safety and security of his daughter, claimed, “I have fear in my mind that Talib may help terrorists to infiltrate inside the Indian territory and eliminate us to take revenge”.
He alleged that he is facing lot of pressure from mafia involved in big land deals.
“They are coming to my house on regular basis and pressuring me to pardon Talib Hussain”, he said, adding that how can he pardon him when he had abandoned his daughter after divorce.
“He is facing charges in the court of law. If court decides to set him free I cannot come in the way; similarly I cannot pardon him too”, Mohammed Tahir said and added that the law must take its course and decide whether he is guilty of committing a crime or not.
