UDHAMPUR: Like other parts of the country, today Rashtriya Mahila Kissan Diwas was celebrated here by felicitating progressive women farmers.An impressive function was organized by Agriculture department, whereat Chief Planning officer, Udhampur, Rajeev Bhushan, was the chief guest, while Chief Agriculture Officer, Satish Bhagat, presided over the function attended by a large number of women farmers.Agriculture Department gave away appreciation certificates to the progressive women farmers and field staff of Agriculture department.Lead Bank Manager Udhampur, Ramesh Raina; Cluster head J&K Bank, Rajesh Gupta; District Information Officer, Er Sajad Bashir Somberia also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various government schemes for empowerment of women.
RAJOURI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST, Jammu celebrated “Mahila Kisan Diwas” in collaboration with Department of Agriculture.About 30 progressive farm women besides PRI representatives and field officers participated in the programme organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajouri.The programme was organised with the aim to applaud the role of women in agriculture and motivate them to play a vital role in doubling farm income.Mahesh Verma, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rajouri was the chief guest.Dr. Arvind Kumar Ishar, senior scientist and head of KVK Rajouri; Chief Agricultre Officer Rajouri Mahesh Sharma, Randhir Sharma, DAO (Extension) and Scientist of KVK, Dr. Vishal Sharma spoke on the occasion.Rajni Bala, a mushroom farmer was presented with a memento and certificate for her role in promoting mushroom cultivation.POONCH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science & Technology of Jammu celebrated Mahila Kissan Diwas, at Village Dalra, Haveli Block which was attended by more than 50 women farmers of the Panchayat. Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head elaborated the importance of organizing this day to spread the message of gender equality among rural women and issues pertaining to women empowerment, nutrition of rural women and income generation activities besides role of rural women in agriculture. At the end of the programme, progressive Women farmers were also honoured by KVK.R S PURA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu working under the administrative control of SKUAST-J and leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. J P Sharma celebrated and organized Mahila Kissan Divas at its campus at R.S Pura in collaboration with ICICI foundation. The event was organised to recognize the invaluable contribution of farm women in Indian agriculture and economy. Director Extension, SKAUST-J, Dr S K Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who discussed in detail various initiatives taken up by the central and state Government for well-being of rural families.Dr. Punit Choudhary, Senior Scientist & Head KVK Jammu; Dr. Sheetal Badyal, SMS Home Science; Dr Prem Kumar, Scientist, KVK Jammu spoke on the occasion. The programme was attended by more than 45 participants including 30 women farmers, ICICI officials namely Gurashish Kaur, Deputy Branch Manager, ICICI Bank and Perminder Singh, others extension personnel and progressive farmers. The programme was assisted by Ashish Katoch, Satbir Singh, Raju Gupta and Poonam Abrol.REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated Mahila Kisan Diwas at Chaiter village of Pouni block in Reasi district which was attended by a number of farm women of the village. The programme was organised under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr.SK Gupta. The programme was initiated by Dr.Banarsi Lal, Incharge, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi briefed the participants about the significance of the event and highlighted the extraordinary contribution of farm women in agriculture and allied sectors. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal.
