STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Neonatology wing of Bee Enn General Hospital, under leadership of Dr Anumodan Gupta (Neonatologist) diagnosed CDH in a 5-hour old baby, who was then operated within an hour by Dr Rajnish Kumar (Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon). A handout issued by the hospital stated that it was a complex case of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), which was masquerading as the congenital heart disease and needed an eagle-eye to chalk out the diagnosis. On admission, the baby was not maintaining respiration and had cyanosis which made the problem at hand extremely complex. It is noteworthy to mention that such cases seldom survive. Usually such patients take as long as 12-15 days and even weeks on ventilator due to inevitable complicated course of disease, but in this case, the patient is healthy and was discharged on 8th day.
