STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Ramakrishna Mission of Jammu on Saturday celebrated National Youth Day with great enthusiasm at the Mission premises at Udheywala here. The celebration was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Sanjeev Verma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu along with Guest of Honour Prof Vishwa Raksha, HoD Sociology, Jammu University and Swami Nirantaranandaji Maharaj, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission’s Jammu Ashrama. The National Youth Day was celebrated at Vivekananda Auditorium by conducting lectures, cultural programmes, drama, musical play and various other performances by the local students. Approximately 450 persons including students, devotees and local people gathered for the celebration. National Youth Day (Yuva Diwas or Swami Vivekananda Birthday) is celebrated in India on January 12 to commemorate the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, maker of the modern India. The half day celebration at Jammu Ashram started with lighting of traditional lamp with Vedic chanting by the Chief Guest. The Saraswati Vandana by Divyang students made spellbound the audience. In his welcome address, Nirantaranandaji Maharaj presented welcome to the guests. As the time flowed, the violin play by Suresh, Kathak Dance by Rumika Kumari, Group Dances by coaching centre students, recitation by Ketan Kashyap mesmerised the audience. Speeches on various topics on youth and Swamiji’s vision by Sakshi Sharma, Arti, Sunita Thussu, Pradeep Ghordi and Manik Slathia drew keen attention of the students. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour enlightened them with the thought process of Swami Vivekananda in present day scenario. The play Shaheed Bhagat Singh by Vishal Ji and his group made the environment nationalistic and emotionally charged. Vote of thanks was presented by Kuldeep Khajuria. The colourful programme culminated with National Anthem sung by all in the auditorium. Later as a part of celebration and bonhomie, a lunch was organised at Ashram premises for the audience, devotees and participants.
