JAMMU: Expressing strong resentment against newly notified land laws for Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party has demanded rollback of the law which has put up Dogra land for sale.To discuss the fresh amendments made into J&K Land Laws, the Apni Party’s Jammu wing organized an emergency meeting at the party office at Gandhi Nagar.The participants opposed the new land laws for J&K and termed the new land rules as a betrayal with the people of J&K especially Dogras of Jammu.The meeting was presided over by Provincial President and former Minister, Manjit Singh. “An attempt is being made to dent the cultural heritage of Jammu and dilute its identity. The new land laws are totally unacceptable to the people of Jammu and if needed, Apni Party with the support of the people of Dogra Land will hit the roads against these unilateral decisions,” said the participants in the meeting resolved. General Secretary Vikram Malhotra said that the Central Government had assured that the land and jobs would be protected and the sudden change in laws has led to mistrust among the people of J&K particularly in Jammu division because they had voted them to power with three Member Parliament seats from the region. “The West Pakistan Refugees, Displaced Persons of Chhamb, Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe people will be the worst victims of the new land laws in Jammu region. Majority of them has been allotted land and they will lose their rights on those lands,” said Provincial President, Apni Party, Manjit Singh.He said that the identity of Dogras and other communities in the region should be preserved and the Apni Party will fight for the cause. “We will leave no stone unturned to achieve the purpose of united Jammu and Kashmir, restoration of statehood, protection to jobs and land,” Apni Party leaders resolved during the meeting.“Jammu has always suffered and it should not be taken for granted by the Government. We will not allow anyone to build buildings by crushing on Dogra land. The land is known for its bravery and our patience should not be tested,” Provincial President Women Wing Namrta Sharma observed in the meeting.The meeting attended by Former Minister and senior Apni Party leader Mohammed Dilawar Mir, Party’s State Coordinator (OBC) Madan Lal Chalotra and State Coordinator (SC) Bodh Raj Bhagat, Raqeeq Ahmed Khan, Shanker Singh Chib, Ajaz Kazmi, Saleem Choudhary, Sohan Singh Sohni, Jagdesh Pandey, Simranjeet Singh, Janmeet Singh Bali, Sanjay Dhar, Vinod Pandita, Maheshwar Jamwal, Dilawar Singh, Vishal Zutshi, Sheetal Singh, Sansar Chand, JP Singh, Joginder Singh among others were present on the occasion.
