STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Citizen’s Forum urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to save Jammu from mismanagement and waste of funds on the ill conceived projects for Jammu city. In a statement issued here on Saturday, R.K Chadha, President Citizen’s Forum said that forum has filed a PIL in the Jammu High Court for construction of a fly over from Shakuntla Cinema to Janipur High Court which was converted to widening of the Janipur Road. But after many years government has come up with this project of shifting High Court to Raika -Bahu Forest on Jammu Bypass Road without going in to the disadvantages of the project, he said. Chadha said “We understand the compelling reasons for the shifting of Jammu High Court, but this is not the place to go for this project. When preparing the Jammu Smart City project, the government is doing piecemeal shifting and construction of large institutions instead of ensuring comprehensive project.” Chadha further asked, “Where is the water availability at this site for such a big institution”. A similar project of Batra Hospital at Sidhra is getting 100 water tankers per day to meet the requirement of the institution which is just one fourth of the size of the project envisaged, he added. The Forum suggested the government to extend Jammu City beyond Kunjwani, Satwari or Bari Brahmina on the areas where water and approach is easily available. Besides, all government offices, workshops and stores along with office of Deputy Commissioner Jammu should also be shifted out of the Jammu city. “A long pending demand of Jammu people is to shift Chief Minister’s residence, to present Jammu High Court Building along with ministers and MLA flats after High Court is shifted to new building. This proposal will decongest the Jammu city and create enormous parking space in the City,” Chadha said. The signatory to the statement included S.S Wazir, Dr Ravinder Madan, Dr Arun Gupta, R.K Handa, Arun Sharma, S.K Gupta, Lalit Mahajan, Deepak Handa, Lalit Makin, Harbans Wahi, Jit Pal Sahni, Ashok Parihar, Anil Sethi, Anuj Dewan Raina, Aditya Sharma, Ashok Misra, M.S Kapoor, Veena Handa, Manjit Minocha, Pooja Malhotra, Sarita Oswal, Samir Bhasin and Sunny Dua.
