STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Project Model Higher Secondary School Janipur (PMHSS) defeated Young Stars Cricket Club (YSCC) by nine wickets runs in the final and lifted Under-16 School Cricket Tournament trophy. The tournament was organised by Country Cricket Club and Project Model Higher Secondary School Janipur at Country Cricket Ground, Gharota, near here. Earlier batting first, YSCC made a total of 143 runs for the lss of ten wickets in 30 overs. Himal and Daman Singh were the main scorers with 38 runs each. For PMHSS, Nand Lal grabbed three wickets while Arnav and Dhruv claimed two each and Rameshwar got one wicket. In reply, PMHSS batsmen achieved the target in 27 overs with very solid batting performance by Arnav (66) and Dhruv (43) runs. Ritwik of YSCC took a lone wicket of Shourya. For his all-round performance, Arnav was declared as the Man of the Match while Daman Preet Singh, with 118 runs and four wickets in the tournament, was adjudged Man of the Series. In today’s match, SP Rural Jammu, Suram Singh was the Guest of Honour, who laid stress on the concept of holistic health and the importance of games and sports in life. President of the Country Cricket Club, Vikrant Sharma, Secretary Sandeep Singh and SHO Gharota Rajinder Sharma were also present. The organising team of Garu Ram, Kashish Abrol, Sanjay Kumar was also congratulated for its laborious efforts.
