STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Terming Union Government’s proposed move to privatise power distribution sector as harassment of J&K people, President Citizen’s Forum, R K Chadha on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and LG G C Murmu to revoke the aforesaid decision. In a press statement issued here, Chadha urged the Government to stop proposed move of privatisation of power distribution sector in J&K UT, as poor and empty-handed people of J&K UT can’t be compared with those living in New Delhi, Mumbai and other metro cities. “After abrogation of Article 370 and even before that, has there ever been a single project to increase per capita income of people of J&K. Instead of finding avenues to increase income of people, forcing them to privately purchase power for their small, tiny and MSME businesses will be harassment,” said Chadha. “After elections in 2014, I officially suggested the then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to go for alliance with BJP instead of Congress as BJP will look after Jammu region and PDP will take care of valley. Vision Documents were also prepared for both the regions. Anil Sethi, Advocate High Court J&K, who was our General Secretary on 31-07-2017, wrote a letter to then JMC Commissioner for providing a copy of Vision Document for Jammu to know improvements and projects suggested for Jammu region, but same has neither been received nor discussed by leaders of Jammu till date,” informed Chadha. “Jammu always remained with the center and Jammu people have always supported the Government in all ups and downs. Please do not expose poor condition of majority of population of UT,” he requested.
