In a statement issued here, XEn Thakur Dass appealed to the people to make judicious use of power in summer months. He said that using power through illegal means amounts to theft of electricity and can invite penal action under law. He said judicious use of air conditioners and other power consuming gadgets in summer season shall reduce overloading of electrical infrastructure, which otherwise constrains the department to go for distress power cuts. He sought cooperation of people in ensuring better services. “JPDCL is making all out efforts to provide regular power supply to the consumers but due to severe dry conditions and abnormal rise in temperature prevailing in the region, there is an unprecedented increase in load leading to unscheduled power cuts”, he maintained adding that there will be zero tolerance against illegal hooking of appliances of any sort. It is pertinent to mention that recently, MD JPDCL Yasha Mudgal has announced that the Corporation is committed to provide round the clock power supply to consumers in Jammu region. “Today’s inspection drive was carried out to realize the commitment of the corporation for ensuring 24X7 power supply in the region”, Ratnesh Puri averred.
