STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Polytechnic faculty demanded implementation of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) pay norms, service conditions and qualifications in J&K UT. In a press statement issued here on Saturday, the faculty members from various polytechnics said that due to non-availability of set-rules and policies in polytechnics, majority of staff members are stagnant and are forced to work on same grade for long spells, sometimes even throughout their service. Presently, there are many such members who have worked for more than 19 years on same grade since joining the department, they added. “No policy has been framed for polytechnic staff members to get ACP/CAS, to go for higher educational qualification, to upgrade faculty with emerging technologies used by industry etc. Moreover, there is no policy for deputing polytechnic staff to industry sector for technical growth in J&K. The only solution to all these issues is implementation of AICTE norms in polytechnic sector at the earliest,” they asserted. Demanding immediate measures for implementation of AICTE norms in J&K UT, the polytechnic faculty expressed hope that UT administration would resolve all their issues.
