State Times NewsJammu: National Police Commemoration Day was observed on Wednesday with full ceremonial tradition across Jammu region as senior police officers led their personnel to pay rich tributes to those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.The day is celebrated every year in the memory and honour of Sub-Inspector Karam Singh and his 10 compatriots of CRPF who on October 21, 1959 had scarified their lives while holding the attack by Chinese forces at Hot Spring in Ladakh at a height of 4,681 metres above sea level.Impressive functions were organised in all the 10 districts of Jammu zone where a large number of senior police and civil officers, retired personnel, civil society and family members of slain personnel participated, a police spokesman said.He said the main function was held at Gulshan Ground in Jammu city where Inspector General of Police, Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh took the salute of the Commemoration Day Parade.He read out the names of 264 slain personnel belonging to local police and paramilitary forces including BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF and SSB and paid rich tributes to all those who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the country during the past one year, the spokesman said. He said a series of sports tournaments were started in the name of ‘Martyrs Memorial Tournament’ to mark the day.This is with a view to promote sports and fitness among the youth, the spokesman said.He said the IGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Sharma also interacted with the kin of slain policemen and heard their grievances, assuring time bound redressal.Earlier, senior officers led by the IGP visited Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to the fallen heroes.Later, the Jammu police chief inaugurated a blood donation camp in which many senior officers and other volunteers donated blood.Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station where rich tributes were paid to all the martyrs.Besides, another impressive function was organized in the evening at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of Police/Civil families assembled and lighted candles and paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of the nation.POONCH: District Police Poonch organised National Police Commemoration Day which was attended by all ranks of District Police alongwith District administration led by DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav and paid glowing tributes to all the officers and officials of Police and Central Police Forces who laid down their lives in line of duty. The Commemoration parade was held at DPL Poonch which was led by Sachin Gupta, DySP DAR Poonch wherein SSP Poonch Ramesh Kumar Angral took salute paid rich floral tribute to the Martyrs.UDHAMPUR: Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, organised commemoration parade in its campus in memory of the martyrs of various states police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, Fire services, Civil defence and Home guard, ITBP, NCB, NDRF & SSB who sacrificed their lives while rendering Commendable services and setting exemplary model of duty during the period 01-09-2019 to 31-08-2020.Mohan Lal, SSP Asstt. Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur took the salute of the Commemoration Parade.Mohan Lal, JKPS Asstt. Director (Outdoor) alongwith Mohd. Faisel Qureshi, SSP Asstt. Director (Admn) SKPA, Ashish Rathore CPO, Sunil Kumar Sr.PO, Ramesh Kataria, PS/Administrative officer, K.K. Sharma, Dy.SP (Q), Suraj Singh Dy.SP (R&D), Zahid Saif Wani, Dy.SP (Indoor) and Sanmati Gupta Dy.SP (Outdoor), and huge gathering of PSIs/other courses also paid their rich tributes to the police martyrs by laying floral wreaths at the Shaheedi Smark. Police Commemoration Day parade was observed at DPL Udhampur. Sujit Kumar, DIG Udh-Reasi Range presided over the function while Sargun Shukla, SSP Udhampur, and all other officers of District Police also participated in the function and the Commemoration Day Parade.RAMBAN: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) DKR, Abdul Jabbar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Haseeb Ur Rehman and Commandant IRP-9th Battalion, Amit led the officers and personnel of J&K Police and J&K IRP in paying the floral tributes to the martyrs on 61st National Police Commemoration Day observed at Shaheed Samarak in the District Police Lines of Ramban today.REASI: Police Commemoration Day was observed in Reasi District like other Districts in the memory of Martyrs who have sacrificed their lives while performing their duties and paid homage to them at DPL Reasi. SSP Reasi Rashmi Wazir inaugurated the newly constructed Police Martyrs Memorial at DPL Reasi to the Martyrs of J&K Police and also paid tributes to the Police Martyrs.Rashmi Wazir, JKPS SSP Reasi accompanied by Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Addl. DC Reasi, Jyotsana Sarkar DFO Reasi, Anil Katoch Sharma Principal STC Talwara, Purshotam Sharma CO IR 1st Bn. distributed gifts to the next of kin of Martyrs as a token of respect. The parade was attended by Surjit Kumar Bhagat Addl. SP Reasi, Mumtaz Ali Bhatti Dy.SP DAR Reasi, Iftkhar Ahmed (JKPS) DYSP HQRS. Reasi, Kuljeet Singh (JKPS) SDPO Katra, Satish Bhardwaj (JKPS) SDPO Arnas, CMO Reasi and other officers from Civil / Police Administration/CRPF and also prominent citizens of District Reasi.SAMBA: National Police Day was observed by District Police Samba in DPL Samba in which a Police Parade was held in the memory of Police Martyrs who had made supreme sacrifice of their lives in the line of duty. During the occasion, SSP Samba Rajesh sharma enlisted the names of all the Police Martyrs who attained martyrdom for the motherland across the country and remembered them for their sacrifice while upholding the sovereignty and integrity of nation.Thereafter, SSP Samba Rajesh Sharma and Additional SP Ajaz Ahmed Zargar, along with other officers of Civil Admn. /Police/ security forces, retired police officers, families of Police Martyrs and prominent citizens of Samba paid floral tribute to Police Martyrs at Martyr’s Memorial.
