Feeling the pulse of people in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the new Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken a stand which everyone in the UT will welcome and support as this was the main point of contention between people of different regions in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir and even in the newly carved out unit excluding Ladakh, being controlled directly by the central dispensation. Yes, the issue which led to differences among people living in vast and varied terrains of Jammu and Kashmir was the prejudice and discrimination on the basis of region and religion. This alleged lopsided treatment was the basic cause of grudge between communities dwelling in different regions of the UT. Now, with a person who is seasoned and in possession of vast political experience sitting at the helm in J&K, things are taking favourable turns and the gaps which caused much harm to the tranquility in the erstwhile State are slowly and steadily being plugged in through insightfulness and political magnanimity of the incumbent LG thus paving way for a transparent and evenhanded administration giving no room to chicanery and bias of any sort. In this context, the LG has made it clear on Monday that regional discrimination in administration will not be tolerated at any level in Jammu and Kashmir. Going a step further in his resolve to usher in new era of justice and impartiality, he assured to rope in new technologies for tightening noose around the delinquent and eliminating completely the scope of corruption. Showing steadfastness in his resolve he has categorically asserted that under his realm there will be zero tolerance for discrimination between Kashmir and Jammu or dividing the union territory on any basis. This is the way the things should be handled to ensure that not a single entity in the UT can have a doubt that he or she is being discriminated on the basis of his region, religion, class, caste or any other classification. Beyond any iota of doubt, there is tangible change in the governance pattern in J&K and it is time for the people to rejoice as the pace with which things are being sorted out soon the time will come when all the aspirations of the people will get fulfilled and there will be no scope for any kind of rancor or antagonism. The only help which people can offer to administration at this juncture is to have faith in government’s intend and extend wholehearted support.
