JAMMU: Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees under the banner of Water Works PHE Employees Association, Jammu Province held a protest under the leadership of Shiv Kumar Sharma, State President of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), who also is the provincial President of the association, at Chief Engineer Office, BC Road, here today.
While addressing the protesters, Shiv expressed concern over the pendency of wages of the daily wagers.
He said that despite reminders, the authorities have shown a lukewarm response to the genuine demands of the employees.
Their demands include regularisation of daily wagers, release of pending wages, enhancement of minimum wages from Rs. 150 to Rs. 350 per day, convening of DPC meeting of all cadres twice in a year, release the arrears of 17 per cent DA hike to the PHE employees, time bound promotion, clearance of arrears of time bound promotes, creation of more vacancies of field staff and ministerial staff, change of designation as per nature of job performed, clearance of all the GP Funds case, repairs to the buildings and other immovable property of the Department, release of 5th installment of the arrears of 6th pay commission and release the 6 per cent DA from January 2015 in favour of State Government employees.
Others who spoke during the protest included Vinod Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Raman Kumar, Som Nath, Faiz Akbar Chouhan, Chain Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Harbans Lal, Waqar Ahmad, Anchal Singh, Liaqat Ali, Sham Lal, Surinder Singh, Mohd. Hamid, Mangal Dass, Madan Lal, Ram Paul Saini, Baldev Raj, Hans Raj, Sham Lal, Ravi Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Jyoti Parkash, Pushkar Nath, Ashok Kumar and Parshotam Kumar.
