STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: To take stock of various issues and grievance of residents of Ward No. 29 Rajpura, Shakti Nagar in Jammu West constituency, the former Minister Yogesh Sawhney along with a team of Congress leaders and eminent citizens visited the area on Thursday, on request of locals.While highlighting various grievances, the locals invited attention of leaders towards pathetic condition of streets and electric wires hanging at low heights, posing danger to inhabitants besides many other issues. It was further highlighted that the area has been facing a tough time due to poor condition of streets and interior lanes as majority of these are in deteriorated condition. The residents had reached out to Sawhney to look into the matter, as despite living in ward adjoining to Mayor’s ward, their issues haven’t been resolved till date.During the visit, the team found multiple problematic issues in the locality. Sawhney observed that electricity lines are lying dangerously close to houses and are hanging at a height of less than six feet in majority of the area. He said that condition of streets is becoming bad from worse due to broken drains and lanes which need immediate repair, but the authorities seem to be in deep slumber. “People of the area are suffering a lot due to numerous problems. Worsening condition of roads and streets in some areas is causing distress among residents of Jammu west,” he asserted.After examining the area, Sawhney contacted higher authorities and asked them to look into the matter besides taking necessary steps to resolve the highlighted issues at the earliest.The former minister was accompanied by Rajesh Sharma General Secretary DCC, Manmohan Sharma Block President, Rakesh Sharma President Ward No. 29, Arun Kumar, Naveen Sharma, Bharat Bhushan, Pooran Balgotra, Gardari Lal and Vinod.
