Dear Editor, Frankly I not just baffled but got completely perplexed on seeing a huge crowd gathered at Mumbai’s Shivaji Nagar market Govandi Road no 02. People were thronging the market to do shopping even at 8 PM, while the entire country is fighting against covid-19 and doing their due diligence were to ensure things get back to normal. Really, people violating lockdown were playing with their lives. In addition Maharashtra is the worst-hit state by the pandemic and has a large number of covid-19 cases than other states of the country. As per reports, Mumbai reported more cases than New York. Meanwhile, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya took to Twitter and shared a video of this gathering at market. He questioned the absence of Mumbai Police which led to such a huge gathering. I am sure that, Mumbai will never come out of Red Zone if the scenario will continue. It is time to maintain the social distancing and the state govt, as well as centre must need to concentrate towards it, else the situation will become out of control. I also urge the Maharashtra government not to allow any kind of shopping in the state. M. Suhail, Kollam, Kerala.
