STATE TIMES NEWS LAMBERI: Residents of three blocks and more than dozen Panchayats under the leadership of Vikas Sharma Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman Lamberi and Vice President All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, held a protest against BJP over installation of another new stone crusher on government land in village Dhera, Panchayat Lamberi Lower, Sub District Nowshera. Over 20 stone crushers are already operational illegally in the area. The protesting people strongly pleaded that the proposed stone crusher is being installed in the close vicinity of number of residential houses and a water point which will cause pollution besides being a source of nuisance due to its day and night working and plying of heavy dumpers and tractor trolleys. “Not only this, the crusher will consume sufficient power affecting the voltage of the residential houses and ultimately affecting the studies and career of school going children”, they rued. “The owner of this proposed stone crusher is reportedly brother of Ravinder Raina, J&K BJP President. Flouting all the norms for the installation of stone crusher, Raina’s bother is already running a stone crusher in this block,” villagers alleged. “The stone crusher workers also attacked the protesting villagers. It was Dy SP Shahin Mirza and SHO Arvind Singh who reached the spot on time and rescued the protesting villagers from the wrath of attackers”, said Vikas Sharma adding that the owner of the aforesaid crusher giving his introduction, threatened villagers against holding protests and raising voice. The villagers have appealed to the authorities to stop the installation of new stone crusher in the residential area. Prominent among those who participated in the protest include Sarpanch Vijay Kumar, Panch C.P Sharma, Naib Sarpanch Suraj Raina, Naib Sarpanch Nasir Ahmed, Panch Sanjay Kumar, Panch Arti Sharma and Panch Surjit Kumar.
