STATE TIMES NEWS NEW DELHI: Denying the reports in a section of media, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Northeast, MoS PMO, who is also Minister In-Charge Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Dr Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the government is not considering any extension in service of the employees retiring during the ongoing Lockdown period. Dr Jitendra Singh said, the urgency to set the record straight has arisen because a number of government employees are due to retire today, that is 31st March, and there should be no ambiguity on this issue. He further informed that an Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has clarified the position in this regard. The DoPT Office Memorandum (OM) issued today reads as follows “in view of the unprecedented situation arising out of country – wide lockdown declared by the government consequent to the outbreak of Covid-19, it is clarified that the Central Government employees who are attaining the age of superannuation on 31st March 2020 in terms of Fundamental Rule 56 and due to retire, shall retire from Central Government service on 31st March 2020, irrespective of whether they are working from home or working from office”.
