STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: University of Jammu, Jammu, on Thursday organized an exclusive webinar by Prof. Vinayshil Gautam, FRAS London, Founder Director, IIM-K, First Head, Management Department, IIT-D, Leader Consulting Team, IIM-Shillong, Ex- KPMG.Prof. Gautam deliberated on the theme ‘Managing Healthcare: Pitfalls and Possibilities’.Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, JU presided over the lecture and delivered the introductory remarks. He elaborated on seminal contribution of Prof Gautam in development of JU being the member of University Council.He presented the biological aspects of coronavirus including its negative impact on the health and well being of human beings throughout the world.He extended gratitude to all the frontline COVID warriors for their selfless service during the present crisis.He highlighted the importance of holding guest lectures by the eminent academicians during the present crisis to spread the positivity among students and scholars.Prof. Vinayshil Gautam gave a detailed account of the COVID era covering various dimensions like technology, sociology, economics and business in an integrated manner to deal with the current unprecedented crisis.He presented revival strategies during the COVID era encompassing learning, research and practice, developing innovative interpersonal skills, city planning, planning work through technological interventions from distant mode and setting up communication centres for ensuring uninterrupted flow of information about the healthcare sector.Prof. Gautam added that the COVID-19 has taken the world by storm and has made every country realize the need for a robust and agile healthcare system that can work substantially over a period of time till the arrival of a vaccine.The healthcare sector across nations is struggling to provide adequate coverage to ever increasing patients in a time and cost effective manner, he said.The time has come when nations have to unite to introspect and provide possible solutions to respond to the challenges post COVID crisis so as to develop a stronger, sustainable and reliable healthcare system.He also emphasized that this is opportune time to convert challenges into opportunities with emphasis on healthcare management and systems.He addressed several challenges that have arisen due to COVID-19 like work life challenges, technological implications on health, educational barriers, connectivity issues and legal and administrative hurdles in bringing desired innovation and change in the pharmaceutical industry.Through his talk, he provided a viable framework and a roadmap to researchers, academicians, professionals and others to bring out the best possible solutions and outcomes.Also, the New Education Policy-2020 has emphasised upon the multidisciplinary approach to make the students adaptable and flexible to accommodate the several challenges on their way.The session was followed by questions from the attendees to which Prof. Gautam replied citing several examples from the present healthcare context.In the end, Professor Neetu Andotra, Registrar, JU presented vote of thanks and Dr. Pallvi Arora and Dr. Isha Sharma, faculty at University of Jammu coordinated the session and technically steered by Guneet Sudan, I/c e-Governance Cell of the University.
