STATE TIMES NEWSRajouri: Rajouri Police have achieved a major success after recent recovery of seven kilograms of heroin and have arrested five persons who were running a narco-terrorism module recovering eleven kilograms of heroin from them in total.
Attempt to smuggle Hashish from Kashmir to Mumbai foiled, two arrestedJammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two suspected inter-state narcotic smugglers on Saturday and claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge cache of high-grade hashish from Kashmir Valley to Mumbai. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (Anti-Narcotics Task Force) Vinay Sharma, they intercepted a truck parked near the Tawi bridge on the Nagrota-Narwal bypass road and recovered 35 kg hashish concealed in boxes containing apples.He said the truck driver and his helper, both residents of Ajmer in Rajasthan, were arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Sharma said a preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, Ali Mohammad and Aamin Khan, were transporting the consignment from Kashmir to Mumbai.“Sustained questioning of the accused is going on and we are working to unearth all links of the drug dealers,” he said.The police officer said they are looking into all possible angles in the case including cross-border smuggling. Meanwhile, the police arrested a suspected drug peddler, identified as Munish Kumar, and recovered five gram heroin from his possession in the Katra area of Reasi district on Saturday. Kumar has been booked under the NDPS act and is being interrogated, a police spokesman said.
The first success in this was achieved on 14 of September when a team of Rajouri Police while checking the vehicles intercepted a vehicle bearing no. JK11B 8033 at Dhanwan Kallar and driver of the vehicle Tariq Ahmed Ghanie son of Ghulam Ahmed Ghanie was arrested and seven kilograms of heroin was recovered from his possession.On this a Case FIR No. 484/2020 under sections 8(a), 21/60/NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rajouri.During course of investigation the accused initially disclosed the involvement of one more person namely Gowher Ahmed son of Mohd Shaban Mir resident of Buchroo Kulgam who was later arrested and both the accused persons were put on sustained interrogation to unearth all the links of these peddlers and the source of this consignment.Finally investigation team of Rajouri police succeeded in breaking the network of drug smugglers and arrested three more accused persons namely Aejaz Ahmed son of Khursheed Ahmed Sheikh resident of Ward no 2 Poonch, Tahir Iqbal son of Muneer Hussain resident of Radio Station Mohalla Ward no 2 Poonch and Nizam Din son of Ghulab Din resident of Bagyal Dharra Poonch.4 Kilograms of heroin was recovered from their possession during raids conducted by teams of Rajouri as well as Poonch police in the area of Poonch.Total recovery in this case has been 11 kilograms with market value running into approximately 11 crores in the International market.During the course of investigation, it has come to fore that the arrested person were running a narco-terrorism module with definite links with Hizbul Mujahidin terror outfit and timely action of police averted their nefarious designs to succeed.
