STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Mukesh Singh, an IPS Officer of 1996 Batch J&K Cadre, who was holding the Additional Charge of IGP Jammu Zone, has taken over the charge of Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone on Wednesday. Prior to his posting as IGP Jammu Zone, the officer has served in Police Department in various capacities and thereafter proceeded on deputation to the Government of India. During 23 years of service, the officer remained posted as SP Reasi, SP Pulwama, Commandant 7th Bn, SP City South Srinagar, SP Poonch, SSP Jammu, SSP NHRC, IGP Armed Kashmir, IGP Pers PHQ J&K and thereafter proceeded on deputation to NIA, where he remained posted as IGP Investigation and prior to joining IGP Jammu, he was posted as IGP Crime J&K. The officer was awarded with DGP’s Commendation Medal in 1999, Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry in 2002, Police Medal for Gallantry in 2003, Army Commander Commendation Medal in 2005, Police Medal for Gallantry (BAR) in 2005 and Police Medal for Meritorious services in 2010. Soon after taking over the charge, the IGP Jammu Zone convened an introductory meet with officers/officials of ZPHQ Jammu as well as Gazetted officers of Jammu district.
